Sailing

Cahersiveen is one of the most popular areas for sailing in Kerry and why wouldn’t it be – with its great new marina, friendly bars and restaurants and dramatic scenery – what more could a sailor ask for? This is why every type of craft, from dinghies, keelboats and catamarans to large cruisers and yachts, can be seen at various times.

For family fun or the ultimate in romantic trips, nothing compares with boating over glorious waterways, passing some of Europe’s most beautiful scenery and stopping at lovely country pubs and restaurants along the way.

Regattas

Boat racing is one of the most passionately followed sports in South Kerry. Every Sunday during the summer a race is held at various locations in South Kerry, with all local villages competing. This fiercely fought race, pushing physical endurance to the limit, is a matter of local pride. South Kerry is the only regatta in Ireland at which you will be able to see the traditional ‘Seine boat race’ which consists of 12 oarsmen.
